Horse Training

                                          A Whisper Above

Specializing in Gaited Horses and Trail Riding.

Here at A Whisper Above our training is based on lots of groundwork.   We believe in our own personal safety, your horses safety, and the ultimate goal--your safety and enjoyment of your horse.   Every horse is unique in it's mental and physical abilities for training, and we take every aspect into consideration while we train.   When training for a specific person in mind, we also take the persons capability and riding style into consideration while training.   Knowing your skills enables us to fine tune the horse even more for your enjoyment.   We don't believe in the "30 day wonders" of a well broke horse turned out fast.   Training for a well broke and happy horse takes time.   We have ridden horses on their first day here, but some horses take a few weeks of preparation on the ground to get to that point.   Again, our basis for our training is safety first for everyone.   We also believe in staying in contact with the horses owner, so they know how their horse is progressing in his training.   We have found that the more time on the ground with round penning, lunging, ground driving, and our despooking using things like raincoats, tarps, balls, ropes, flags, and automobiles can make even the spookiest horse think before reacting, making them overall much easier to handle on the ground and under saddle.

Rob with Lass third day training

Trainers Rob Pendleton and Cindy Carver work as a team while training, adding a diversity you won't find with many facilities.   Rob having grown up around horses and enjoying the many trails in Missouri has his forte taking the youngsters out on the roads and pastures.   Cindy also grew up around horses but enjoys more of the training aspect to get your horse more limber and versatile in side passes, neck-reining, backing up, and even enjoys adding some of the basics of dressage to your horse.   Working as a team, they also add to the horses ability to adapt to new riders with Rob being 6'1" and left handed and Cindy 5'2" and right handed...the horses learn how to listen to different riders cues and aids.

Training is $450 Monthly which includes Hay, board, and Training.   Please book ahead, as we are busy for the next few months, but will gladly add you to the training roster.    Any breed welcome from ponies to gaited to warmbloods.
